we ask that everyone read this thread as well as the rules, please, so that you will all know what is expected of you here at SALEM WITCHES INSTITUTE. in this thread, you will find some more traits of the school that were not explained in the rules or in the sorting thread, so please pay careful attention.
for one, students, SALEM, much like hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, is in a sense invisible to muggle eyes. when a muggle approaches the castle, all that they see is an old building in ruins and a sign hanging on the gate that says 'condemned, keep out.' and we must all also remember that because of this and other circumstances, there is quite a bit of magic floating about in the air which makes muggle technology stop working. so upon arrival, cell phones, watches, alarm clocks, and music players are enchanted so that students may continue to use them. other electronic items are not permitted for use if they require charging or plugging in of any sort, though there is a rather old tv set in the room of requirement with a large selection of movies to choose from and watch on it.
each term here at SALEM will last for four months unless we find that this is too long a term, in which case they will be shortened to three months. also, breaks between terms will last for twelve days so that students have a sufficient time period for break of a week and a half real life time. and the next order of business has to do with apparating. when do you get to learn it, you ask? well, certainly not in your first year, silly! no, students will learn to apparate in witch's cross once they have reached their third year. animagi, however, work a little differently here at SALEM, in that you may become an animagus if you are at least fifteen years old. you must, however, fill out an application for this, as we do not wish to have a million animagi running rabid about the school...
but now you're probably wondering how to get yourself up through the yearly ranks, am i right? well, that's pretty simple, actually... students must reach a certain number of posts in order to go up a year, though post counts are disabled in all boards that are not role-play centered and we must ask that no one post out of chat in these boards, or the post will be taken away from your full count and what you have posted will be archived. so here are the post count requirements for you, everyone:these are all of the things that you need to know to start out, but be sure to be on the look out for whether one of the admins posts in this thread, as it may be an important update. if it is, though, we will also make an announcement of it that will show in each board. but if you have any questions about anything here at SALEM WITCHES INSTITUTE, please feel free to either post your questions that you have for us here in this thread, or pm them to WENDY, CICI, or SYDNEY and we will do our best to help you out. we hope that you all greatly enjoy your time here at
